Founded by choreographer Osnel Delgado in 2012 and based in Havana, Cuba, Malpaso Dance Company is one of only a handful of Cuban dance companies that operates independently from the Cuban government, signaling a new era in Cuban dance.
The Boston debut of the company will include new works by American choreographer Trey McIntyre and Malpaso’s Artistic Director Osnel Delgado, music set to and performed live by Arturo O’Farrill and the Afro-Latin Jazz Ensemble.
"[Malpaso has] the pristine technique but none of the rigidity that comes with that kind of training . . .They’re both humble and sparklingly present." —The New York Times
The Dance Series is sponsored by the Stephanie L. Brown Foundation, Royal Little Family Foundation and John S. and Cynthia Reed Foundation.
